STUDYING MEDIA IN KOREA 2024

As society continues to develop and modernize, the job opportunities in the field of communications become increasingly promising. This is a broad field with very high practical applications in today’s life.

1. Why Study media in Korea?

The media sector has significantly contributed to the development of South Korea today, helping its economy and entertainment industry become famous worldwide. This is why studying communications in Korea has been attracting many young Vietnamese students in recent years. Additionally, the media departments at Korean universities always focus on investing in equipment and improving the quality of education so that students can maximize their learning potential.

2. Main Fields of Study in media in Korea

The main fields that international students can engage in while studying media include:

  1. Public Relations: Proposing solutions and actions to promote a company’s brand, opening opportunities to find customers for its products or services.
  2. Journalism: Working in the field of journalism, including print and online media, focusing on current events and information updates.
  3. Marketing Communications: Directly or indirectly bringing customers to the company, increasing sales, making this a current and future-focused field.

3. Requirements for Studying media in Korea

Basic requirements include:

  • Good health, free from tuberculosis and contagious diseases before departure
  • No criminal record, not prohibited from exiting Vietnam or entering Korea
  • No relatives (in the household registry) residing illegally in Korea
  • Clear proof of the guarantor’s job and income
  • Age between 18-30 years
  • Minimum high school graduation
  • No more than 2 years gap after high school graduation, no more than 3 years gap after college/university graduation. If studying or working during the gap, proof is required.
  • Average high school GPA of 6.5 or higher (or as required by each school)
  • Korean language proficiency certificate (Topik 3 or higher, or as required by each school)
  • Minimum savings of $20,000 deposited in the bank for at least 3 months (or as required by each school)

4. Scholarships for Studying media in Korea

Each Korean university offers different levels of scholarships to support students. The criteria for scholarships are based on GPA, Korean language proficiency, or interview results. Depending on the evaluation scale, students can receive scholarships ranging from 30% to 100%. From the second semester onwards, scholarship eligibility will depend on the GPA of the previous semester.
