7 THINGS INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS NEED TO DO AS SOON AS ARRIVING IN GERMANY
To have a smooth and convenient study abroad journey, here are 7 things international students need to do as soon as they arrive in Germany:
1. Find accommodation
You should consider and choose carefully because accommodation greatly affects your studies and travel. You should look for accommodation before coming to Germany through groups, websites and ask for help from people in the Vietnamese community in Germany.
2. Register your home address
After completing the housing rental procedure in Germany, you will have to go to the administrative agency (Anmeldung) to declare your personal information, home address, length of stay and study in Germany. Registration of temporary residence must be done within 2 weeks of your arrival in the country.
3. Apply for a residence permit
You must go to the local immigration office to apply for a residence permit. To apply for a license, you need to prepare some documents:
1. Passport
2. Temporary residence certificate issued by German police
3. German language certificate
4. Health certificate
5. Financial statistics
6. School admission decision
7. Marriage certificate (if any)
4. Register for health insurance
Under German law, health insurance for international students is mandatory. Everyone who comes to Germany for long-term or short-term residence, whether employed or unemployed, must pay health insurance for the period of time they live in this country.
5. Complete the admission procedure

6. Open a bank account
In Germany, you need a bank account to pay rent, receive your salary, and pay for other services. You need to consult information from websites, Vietnamese community groups or local people to make the right choice because each bank will have different fees.
7. Buy a phone sim
You should buy a phone SIM in Germany to save costs. The 3 largest mobile network operators in Germany are Deutsche Telekom (T- Mobile), Vodafone and 02.
